September 1, 2000: The World Lost a bit of color…
Sometimes it is hard to believe that so much time has passed…
I’m not always the best at putting my emotions into words, so I will just revisit this dedication from 9 years ago:
A Tribute to our Parents:
We have spent our lives with both of you and shared your love.
We shared everything together, whatever it took to run this race.
The two of you were not only our parents, but our friends and confidant.
When the two of you left us much too soon, we knew our hearts would hurt and bleed.
But we thank God for the two of you, for you supplied all of our needs.
We will always love you for the rest of our lives; for we are your loving children.
We won’t say goodbye, we’ll just say goodnight.
We’ll always follow the right path until we see you again.
We love you and we will miss you forever.
-Your Children: DeAnna Claudette, Richard Anthony, and William Demetre.

William Tolliver Fun Fact
At the age of ten, having further refined his drawing ability through the study of books on the human figure, William Tolliver was catching the attention and praise of all who viewed his work. Though he never drew for profit, usually giving his drawings away to anyone who wanted them, a member of the Vicksburg First Baptist Church finally insisted that Tolliver take five dollars for a drawing he wanted for the parsonage. At which time, Tolliver had reluctantly made his first sale.

Tolliver Fun Fact 9
By the time Tolliver was 13, he had grown tired of realism. He was quoted as saying: “There was no imagination in my realistic drawings and they began to leave me feeling empty. What I longed to see was something only a real artist could show me, something from his own imagination. I found what I was looking for when, at 14, I discovered van Gogh.”
